Qingyuan, located in the middle of Guangdong province, covers a total land area of 19,000 square kilometers, making it the largest prefecture-level city by land area in the province.

It enjoys rich water resources and is one of the best places in Guangdong in terms of ecology, water and tourism. Crowned as the "back garden of the Pearl River Delta", Qingyuan is home to five kinds of tourist resources, namely natural landscapes, historical and cultural relics, rivers, karst caves, hot springs and folk customs.

A total of 63 kinds of minerals have been discovered in Qingyuan, of which 35 kinds (including subspecies) have proven reserves. The city is also a key ceramic material base in China, as well as being home to a vast range of conservation and protection bases for endangered animals.

Qingyuan boasts picturesque mountains and waters, with rich tourism resources. The city has been awarded several honorary titles, including China excellent tourism city, national garden city, China hot spring city, China livable city, one of the Top 10 Special Leisure Cities in China, as well as International Tourism Gourmet City.

The city of Qingyuan attaches great importance to international exchanges and has established close friendships with a number of overseas cities and regions, including the Redwood City in California, Dunedin in New Zealand, Kunsan and Sacheon in South Korea.
